Beginner Horseback Riding Lessons in Colorado Springs
During a riding lesson, riders can expect to learn the basics of horseback riding and how to care for their horse. They will be introduced to the different types of horse tack, such as the saddle, halters, bridle, bit, reins, and stirrups, and learn how to properly put them on and adjust them. Additionally, riders will learn about basic horse care, such as leading, tying, and grooming horses. Weight Limits
At Academy Riding Stables, the safety of our riders and the well-being of our horses are our top priorities and because of our Liability Insurance, we are strict about our weight limit.
Our weight limit is in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone while protecting the health of our horses.
Horseback riding requires balance, control, and proper weight distribution. A rider who exceeds the recommended weight limit may unintentionally place excessive strain on the horse’s back and muscles, which can lead to discomfort, fatigue, or even long-term injuries for the animal. Additionally, carrying too much weight can cause saddle fit issues, leading to rub sores, nerve pinching, and muscle strain.
Our weight limit is not about excluding anyone—they are about ensuring a safe and ethical riding experience for both our guests and our horses. We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions about our guidelines. Our goal is to provide the best possible experience while prioritizing the welfare of our equine partners.
If horseback riding isn’t an option for you, we’d love to help you explore other ways to enjoy the beauty of Garden of the Gods! Please feel free to contact us for recommendations.
